What is Google Ads?
Google Ads puts your business at the top of Google when people actively search for what you offer.
Where ads appear: mainly on Google Search (top/bottom of results with a small “Ad” label). They can also appear on Maps and partner sites, but in our packages we focus on Search first - it’s the most intent-driven.
How ranking works (short version): every search triggers a real-time auction. Your ad’s position is based on Ad Rank, which combines your bid (how much you’re willing to pay per click) and quality (relevance of keywords/ads, expected click-through rate and landing-page experience).
Why quality matters: higher quality = lower cost per click and better positions. We structure keywords and ad copy tightly, use negatives to block irrelevant traffic and give you quick landing-page tips, so you pay less for better results.
How is Google Ads billed?
You pay two things:
1. Our management fee (your chosen package + % of ad spend), invoiced by Ghost Design.
2. Your ad spend, billed directly by Google to your card in your own Google Ads account.
This keeps budgets transparent and fully under control.
How much budget do I need to start?
It depends on your industry and products/services, but here’s a practical guide for Search ads:
Typical cost-per-click (CPC) ranges:
Lower-competition services: ~£0.80–£2.00 per click.
Medium competition (most local B2B): ~£2.00–£6.00 per click.
Highly competitive niches (legal/finance/home services): £6.00–£20.00+ per click.
How your daily budget spends:
You set a daily budget (e.g., £30/day ≈ ~£900/month).
Google may spend slightly more on busy days and less on quiet ones, but will average out to your monthly total.
With £30/day and a £3 CPC average, expect roughly 10 clicks/day (before optimisation).
As we optimise (negatives, better ads, schedules), the quality improves and effective CPC often drops, giving you more clicks for the same budget.
Where to start:
Basic works well up to about £2,000/month ad spend.
Pro suits £2,000–£8,000/month with more keywords/regions and testing.
We’ll agree your keywords, daily budget and ad schedule together, and you can pause or adjust spend any time.
Do I still need the one-off setup if I choose a subscription?
No. Basic and Pro include the initial account and campaign setup. Subscriptions run for a minimum of 3 months to give time for learning and steady optimisation.
What are “keywords”, “search terms” and “negative keywords”?
Keywords are the phrases you choose to target (e.g., “web design leamington spa”).
Search terms are the exact words people typed in google before clicking your ad.
Negative keywords are words we exclude (e.g., “free”, “jobs”, “watch”) to stop wasted spend.
How fast will I see results?
We launch within 5–7 business days after access and brief. Many clients see first enquiries in 1–2 weeks. Results typically improve over 4-6 weeks as data builds and we optimise.
Can I pause or change the budget anytime?
Yes. You have full control. We can pause/resume campaigns or increase/decrease spending as needed. Most changes take effect the same day. We usually allow 24-48 hours to read the new data before deciding on further adjustments.
